I have done a lot of research into ways to grow my hair long, and one thing that always comes up is the link between prenatal vitamins/ hair growth. So is there a link? Do these pregnancy vitamins really make your hair grow? There does seem to be a link, but you should get the facts straight before trying anything that will make your hair grow faster.
The Case for Prenatal Vitamins/ Hair Growth
There are many arguments suggesting that prenatal vitamins really can make your hair grow faster. Why? Because they contain folic acid, and folic acid is very important for our body to generate new cells. It is this process that our hair growth relies on, so it’s understandable that folic acid could impact on the rate at which our hair grows. In fact, many pregnant women find that their hair grows beautifully long and healthy during those nine months.
The Case Against Prenatal Vitamins/ Hair Growth
The argument saying that prenatal vitamins don’t work for hair growth says that there is no scientific proof, which is true. Others say that it just keeps your hair healthier, stopping it from breaking and making it fuller, so it just gives the appearance of longer hair. But isn’t the appearance what we’re after? I say that this can’t be bad!
Conclusion
So we’ve established that there is no real scientific proof for the link between prenatal vitamins/ hair growth – but the truth is that many people have seen wonderful results by using them. The one thing you must remember though is that, if you’re not pregnant, then you’re not going to need all of those vitamins. This is why it’s far healthier to use a dedicated hair vitamin – I would suggest Provillus for women or men – rather than to use vitamins that are for pregnant women.
